Hello everyone!

I have to admit, I am VERY computer illiterate and have heard about blogs, but have never used one, so this is more learning for me! Computer illiterate or not, I am looking forward to the class:)

To answer the questions, my name is Courtney Quast and I am a K-8 School Counselor at Williams Bay Schools. I LOVE what I do, no matter how busy, full, emotionally draining, and frazzled things get, and I truly feel that I have thee best students and staff.

As for the hobbies I have that create joy and laughter in my life, I LOVE to laugh and am one who appreacites the little things, so it doesn't take much. I love to read, bike/hike/walk, ski, travel, play and watch sports, go to comedy clubs, hear live music, dance, and I joined a bowling league which I don't bowl, but have enjoyed it a lot! I could go on and on with things that bring me joy, but I think what brings me the MOST happiness is simply spending time with friends and family. NOTHING beats simply being with people that know all your "stuff" and love you anyway:)

Hello,

My name is Sam Fuchs and I teach 3rd grade at Tibbets Elementary in Elkhorn, WI.

Most of my hobbies that enjoy involve being outdoors. In the winter I like to ski and snowshoe. I also just went dogsledding and laughed a lot. In the summer I hike, fish, and travel. I try to laugh no matter what I am doing, work or hobbywise. I laugh most when I do the things I love with family or friends.

Hello everyone!

My name is Cindi Kees. I teach second grade in Edgerton, WI.

Hobbies that I have include reading, exercising, selling lia sophia jewelry, and spending a lot of time with good friends and family. Most of my weekends are consumed with spending time with great friends and family members. I also love the show The Biggest Loser right now because my husband and I are getting back in shape and are losing weight and getting toned. We were both in sports in college and our bodies have seemed to change since then!!! We have 2 great kids. Olivia will be seven in June and Logan will be 4 in July. They bring me lots of laughter. I have to say I love my class this year and they bring me great joy and happiness.

My name is Linda. I teach first grade in Reedsburg, Wisconsin.
“What makes me laugh and gives me joy?” I would say family and friends. Last night I got the call that my Dad past away. It was a blessing but it is always sad to have a wonderful person taken from your life. Anyway, some how while talking with my brother and sister this morning we started to laugh. Then when I was having lunch with my friends we were laughing again. Sharing funny stories always brings me joy and laughter. I think I work with some of the funniest people on earth.
My hobbies are reading, scrapbooks, kayaking, and learning about new gadgets.

Hello,
My name is Diana Antholine, and I teach 6th grade at Lake Denoon Middle School in Muskego, WI. I teach 2 science classes, math, language arts, and reading as well as a reading/writing/math enrichment course. My hobbies include reading, dining out, exploring the wonderful world of wine, and spending time with my friends and family. My one-year-old daughter, my husband, and our cat and dog bring a lot of laughter and joy to my life as well as being in the company of others.

Hi... I am Kristin Gahart and I teach third grade at Jackson Elementary in Elkhorn, WI. I sometimes feel like I am so crazy busy with school and my family that I don't have time for real hobbies right now. One thing I do squeeze in time for is Jazzercise. I thought it would be pretty nerdy before I actually attended the first class, but it is fun!!! I usually end up laughing quite a few times during Jazzercise (always at myself- never at my classmates!). I also spend a lot of time with my children ages five and two- they can always make me laugh. My daughter with her crazy intellectual ideas and my son with his silly antics. They keep me on my toes! One last thing that brings laughter and joy to my life five days a week is eating lunch with my "lunch bunch"--- three other teachers plus myself bring lunch for each other and have a great time eating, laughing, and destressing every day at lunch.

Hi. My name is Deb Degner. I teach first grade, also at Tibbets in Elkhorn. Like Courtney, this is my first blog, so hopefully it works...

Right now, my life is too busy for hobbies, but I plan to get some again someday! I am looking forward to spring and escaping on walks with just me, myself, and my i-pod. And I LOVE to shop, whether it's just for groceries at Walmart or, my favorite, kids' clothes at an outlet mall. I must admit I get a rush when I find a good deal!

As for joy and laughter, my kids are the best. Megan is 7 and is in the first grade classroom next door to me. Kylie and Kadie will turn 5 on Sat. and start kindergarten in the fall. And Jaden is 3 and gets into anything and everything his sisters never did!

Hi, My name is Sharon Kawczynski.
I have worked at Elkhorn School District for almost 20 years as an elementary art specialist. I began teaching K-5, then it was
1-4, and now I am back to K-5.
I really love what I do, otherwise I couldn't do it.
Things that create joy and laughter in my life include my job, my family and creating.
I get a kick out of my students and have the laugh lines to prove it. I love what they can come up with and create. I love seeing the joy and sometimes uncontrolable excitement they have in art class.
My eight year old son makes me laugh and think a lot. He has questions beyond what I ever imagined an eight year old to have.
We love to do things outside and we enjoy planting a garden together.
When I have time, I enjoy creating cards, paintings, photos, or just even scrapbooking, as a relaxing experience.

G'day All...Happy weekend!

It's been a delight (and a surprise) to read your introductions so far. As it turns out, the teacher in the classroom right next door to me is also taking this class and I didn't know it until coming across her post. *Enthusiastic wave to Diana A.*

My name is Laura Chartier. I'm a teacher of 6th grade students, concentrating in the subjects of Science, Math, and Language at Lake Denoon Middle School in Muskego, WI.

Hobbies? Hmmmm. I had to sit and actually ponder this for a bit, and have come to the conclusion that at the moment, just living life is my hobby. I'm pretty much a Jack-of-all-trades, master-of-none...dabbling in a little bit of this and a little bit of that. Short Attention Span Theater here.

But as for things that bring me joy? That's easy! The biggies are:

1) My immediate family, which includes my husband, whom I lovingly call "SpongeBob"; my stepson Robert, who has a silly/sarcastic sense of humor like me; and my 4 (yes count 'em...4) eclectic & comical cats. (For those of you who just cringed at the "c" word, I'm actually a dog person, if that saves me any grace.)

2) Learning. I am C-O-N-S-T-A-N-T-L-Y seeking out new stuff to learn.

3) My students. When they aren't giving me more gray hair than I can keep covered, they are making me laugh.

If you are anywhere in the vicinity of me, you will hear laughing & giggling. I don't know if that's annoying to others or not, but I'm having fun, and I hope that never changes!

Looking forward to learning and laughing with y'all!

My name is Mary Johnson, and I also teach at Lake Denoon Middle School in Muskego. I teach 8th grade Pre-Algebra and Earth Science. (Special hugs and kisses to my colleagues, Laura and Diana. Sara, where are you?)

Hobbies and activities that create laughter and joy in my life are brought about by my family. We have 5 grown children who have now become 10, a 16 year old (as of yesterday) granddaughter and her 1 year old brother, our grandson. The variety in their experiences is always entertaining! And, of course, the little guy just makes my heart burst and my smiley face never stop.

I, too, get a real charge out of my 13 and 14 year old students. They are somewhere 'out there' at this age. Each day is so new and unpredictable and traumatic for them that humor is the greatest tool I can use with them. It works always...so far.

I'm Darcy and I teach 3rd grade with Sam at Tibbets School in Elkhorn. This is my first blogging experience as well but, after just one glitch, things seem to be going OK. (Thanks for the blog address, Kristin!)

My husband and I are spending most of our "hobby" time right now with the adoption process...our second adoption in two years! Our son, Sebastian, turns 2 1/2 next week, while our daughter, Maggie, just turned 4 months. Unfortunately, Maggie is still in Guatemala with her foster family as we await word that we have been approved by the PGN (Guatemalan government). With Sebastian, this part of the process took 5 months. We're hoping things don't take quite as long with Maggie.

Right now, my biggest joy comes from watching my son become a little boy. Despite living in Guatemala for his first 13 months, he is beginning to really talk and gets very mad when we don't immediately know what he is saying.

Before I became a mom, I loved doing calligraphy, reading, writing, learning Spanish, kayaking, gardening, and being outside when it's warm out!

Hey there everybody. My name is Jim Karedes, and I am a teacher at Reek School, on the back side of Lake Geneva. We are a k-8 district that feeds into Big Foot High School. I am the middle school math teacher (actually, I teach 5th, 6th, & 8th grade math).

The hobbies that I enjoy, first and foremost, are the various coaching duties that I have! I just finished up my boys' basketball season at Wilmot High School (assistant varsity coach), and look forward to the upcoming boys' tennis season where I am the varsity tennis coach at Big Foot High School. My other coaching responsibilities include being the varsity Girls' Tennis Coach at Big Foot H.S. as well. In addition to coaching three varsity sports, I enjoy coaching volleyball and track at my grade school. Needless to say, that keeps me quite busy, and I now have an 8 month at home that adds even more joy to my life! I've been on paternity leave for all of Jan., Feb., and March, and look forward to heading back into the classroom come the first week of April.

My last comment I'd like to add, is that it is nice to see so many local people taking this course. Let's have fun!

Hello!

I apologize for the late start. Somehow, my registration didn't originally go through. Anyway
. . . I feel fortunate to be teaching 5th graders in Evansville, Wisconsin. I have a wonderful group of students.

My hobbies and interests include skiing, baking, reading, biking, camping, and most of all, spending time with my family. We have 3 boys; ages 17, 14, and 8 . . one dog, three cats, two aquatic frogs, 5 fish and one snail. My family and work provide daily joy and experiences of laughter. With two teenagers in our household, I've rediscovered the importance of having a sense of humor. I'm looking forward to sharing with them what I learn regarding how attitudes make a difference. :)

Traveling is a love I share with others. We always do the unusual when we travel. While traveling in other states or countries, we always take in the everyday activities of where we are. It may be street fairs, art/craft shows. We really get an opportunity to see how others live. I also love to sew and do needle work. It's so satisfying to see a work finished.
